Safer & Stronger Communities Partnership
The Telford & Wrekin Safer & Stronger Communities Partnership comprises of a range of locally-based public, private and voluntary sector agencies, and was established in 1992. Its vision is to achieve:
"A commuity that feels safe and protected".
This is supported by the Safer Communities Strategic Unit whose primary role is to support the Council and its partners to deliver on agreed Partnership objectives (please see the link for the team structure), these are to reduce crime, tackle anti-social behaviour and substance misuse through a range of groups within the Partnership (please see the link for the Partnership structure) and to inform and reassure the community so that fear of crime is reduced.
Service Objectives:
A. Reduce crime (31%
reduction seen against 2003/4
baseline figure). This includes all
forms of violence, including
Domestic Abuse, Hate
Crime, Burglary, and Business
Crime.
B. Tackling all forms of anti-social
behaviour; defined as:
-
Vandalism graffiti and other deliberate damage to property.
-
Teenagers hanging around on the streets.
-
Rubbish or litter.
-
Drug use and dealing.
-
Drunk or rowdy behaviour.
-
Noisy neighbours.
-
Adandoned or burnt out cars.
C. Addressing all aspects of
substance misuse, including
prevention, treatment, and crime-
related substance misuse,
(including the disruption of drugs
markets). Alcohol is also a critical
issue which cross-cuts many other
areas of concern for the
community.
D. Identify Prolific and Priority
Offenders and providing
appropriate and targeted
interventions to prevent them re-
offending. These are small in
number but have a
dispropportionate impact on
community both in the volume of
their offences, and their impact.
E. Promoting community safety to
keep individuals safe and free
from harm, and providing
reassurance to the community on
a range of crime and anti-social
behaviour issues.
