Telford & Wrekin Partnership

Strategic Housing Page

The Housing and Regeneration Partnership Board (HRPB) is one of 8 thematic sub-Partnership Boards of the Telford & Wrekin Local Strategic Partnership (LSP).  It was launched in March 2009 and has taken over the role of the former Strategic Housing Partnership Board.  The Board is the main focus for ‘single conversation’ on housing and in regeneration in the borough.  It also has a key role in delivering the Community Strategy for the Borough Transforming Telford & Wrekin from New Town to Modern City.

The principle aim of the Partnership Board is to secure more and better housing, infrastructure, community asset and regeneration outcomes by Telford & Wrekin Council (TWC) and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) working than would otherwise be possible. More information on the role and activities of the Partnership Board are set out in its terms of reference and a Memorandum of Understanding (March 2009).

Issues and Achievements

Local Investment Plan

In March 2010 the HRPB launched the first Local Investment Plan (LIP) for Housing in the West Midlands.   Titled Recovery, Regeneration and Growth the Plan is intended to help boost regeneration and new house-building and invest around £50 million in new funding in Telford and Wrekin over a three year period.  This is intended to deliver new homes, particularly on sites that have been affected by the recession, and also to improve existing properties and support the wider regeneration, economic and growth of the borough.

Updating the Housing Strategy for Telford & Wrekin

Telford & Wrekin Council is current updating the local housing strategy for the borough.  The new strategy covers all aspects of housing and will run for a three year period: 2010 - 2013.

A draft strategy was approved by the Council’s Cabinet on 10 May 2010.  There will be a six week consultation period, which runs until late June.
